I kept meaning to post for the last couple of weeks and just never quite got there. I meant to at least post about the US elections and Rumsfeld's resignation and all sorts of things, because really if I have an obsessive fandom at the moment that's not the Rolling Stones, it's US politics (Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert included), but no, that didn't happen.

I also haven't been watching a lot of TV (as really, there is nothing on here) but I have been reading TWoP re-caps and the like for VMars, Grey's and Studio 60. Not so much BSG (trying to stay kind of spoiler free) and House (really not sure why, it may have to do with the House re-capper). I have been reading posts on the flist though. Supernatural really did eat fandom, huh?

However, the last ep of House involved Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard and John Laroquette on a road trip!? There is no bad there. I still have ridiculous love for Laroquette's one episode appearance in TWW. Ridiculous love. I may have to watch that ep today.

I usually go for a wander around town on Saturday and track down a coffee, but the weather is a little iffy and I'm already hyper due to the chocolate I had for breakfast (yes, I know, believe me, I know). Honestly Wellington, I love you really, and I don't regret my move for a second, but your climate? Can suck rather hard some days. It's November!

I ended up staying up till 4:30am last night, because this wiki ate my brain. (link via [livejournal.com profile] polonius). It's about tropes used in TV and to some degree anime and it was in turns hilarious and fascinating and I just couldn't stop clicking the links. Damn you internet.

Also due to the internet's wonder I got to see the documentary Jesus Camp last night. Yeah ... I may have yelled at the TV a lot. Just OMGWTF. They're just kids!

Finally, Casino Royale needs to be out here now. 7 December is too far away.

DUDE. Pervez Musharraf went on The Daily Show? DUDE.

It was a really cool interview actually. Jon did ask some hard questions and was also thoughtful and polite and well Jon Stewart, so therefore completely awesome. It was a much better interview than you'd be likely to get from a 'serious' news show.

I don't know quite why I'm this o.O about this, but I am. Of course, Musharraf could be doing to rounds promoting his book, but still, The Daily Show? Awesome.

I really need a Daily Show or Jon icon.

Also, due to the wonders of the internet and fandom I saw the VMars Season 3 opener! (Bless you, broadband). I wasn't blown away, but I definitely enjoyed it.

Finally, if someone's keeping track of the Harry Hair Debate. I'm definitely in the 'Dude. No' camp. I liked the emo hair. See? I do still have HP love. It's just ... sporadic at the moment.

And yeah, okay, one more thing. NBC's website is streaming Studio60 eps -which is the only way I can catch them as I'm really not so much with the hard-drive space, so no torrents for me - and that is cool, except if you live outside the US you can't access them, which is not so cool. I understand why, but I still sigh.

Edit because I don't want to do a whole new post:

Keith Richards, black coat, 'You Got the Silver' last Wednesday in Boston. Oh, YouTube, you've got my heart. The quality leaves a little to be desired but ... Keith. Black coat. 'You Got the Silver' *flails in perpetuity*

Tony Blair says that terrorism has not resulted from his or the US's foreign policy. (Link via [livejournal.com profile] blythley). The quote is near the end of the article, but honestly WTF?!

1. Going 'home' for the first time since you moved cities? Surreal.

2. YouTube? I love you. A lot.

3. Broadband? I love you more.

4. There are few things better than a really well made mochaccino. Guh.

5. Oh, Mexico. I feel for you. Damn Argentina. Yes, the goal that won it was beautiful, but I'm still annoyed about it, and the fact I won't be able to see the Portugal and Holland game tonight, because it will be awesome. Also, while I'm World Cup rambling, while I know it is extremely unlikely, how awesome would it be if Ghana won later this week? And France? I really think you're going down. Poor Thierry.

6. U.S May Have Been Abused in it's Formative Years. The Onion rocks. I have to remember to check it more often.

7. Comment with the name of a character in one of my fandoms, and I'll post you an instant mini-fanmix: 3-5 songs that remind me of that character.

Uh, it won't be instant, it might take me a couple of days but I'm curious and I've gotten some cool music from other people's already, so I decided to share the love.

8. Dear Prime TV,

Where is Doctor Who S2? * Where?! All these pictures of David Tennant in his rather delicious suits are killing me.

9. The downside of the really well made mochaccino that you decided to drink at 7pm? You're still wide awake at midnight when you have to be up for work in 7 hours. *sighs*

10. Somedays my flat is really rather awesome.

*Well, new Doctor Who S2. I realise there's been like 15 (?) seasons before the most recent incarnation.

I started my new job today. Meep. It actually wasn't too bad, just building tours and id and swipe card procurement and a little bit of 'actual' work. The people seem nice and overall, I really liked it, and I can wear jeans! (If they're tidy, which may be a classification that not entirely fits the best pair I own).

The present I'm buying myself out of my first pay? Veronica Mars Season 1. I've been not very patient waiting for it to come out on Region 4 and just, eh. I give up. Amazon here I come. <3

Three random thoughts:

- Pods are quite possibly the most addictive thing ever.

- I really dislike the term 'flip-flop.' After all the shit that went down with John Kerry in the last US election, I think it was totally overused and when I saw it mentioned in an article about David Cameron before, I cringed. It may also be the fault of Outfoxed, as I remember they did a whole montage with it and I probably closely associate it with FOX News as a result, which is never a good thing.

- As soon as I get my computer issues sorted, I need to upload some Thea Gilmore. I need to share the love.
