Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great night whatever you did. :)

Mine was pretty low-key. I went bowling out in NE London where my friend lives with some friends of hers. My bowling is uh, inconsistent as best, and sadly not helped by beer. :( It was a cool night though. Crashed out there, as the thought of getting across to the other side of the city at 2am didn't really appeal (and it snowed on the walk back, not a lot admittedly, but still, snooow), and got home about an hour and a half ago after being made to watch last night's episode of Eastenders ... and it has a slashy subplot which is intriguing ... *facepalm*

I've seen the usual year end memes around, but didn't really feel like doing a primarily RL one (it hasn't been all awesome, but I moved to another country and so far so good), but this year-in-fandom one I saw [livejournal.com profile] pocky_slash do intrigued me.

Fandom year-in-review )

I also finally got around to finishing Dollhouse S1 (minus 1x13). Overall, I liked it, but the character of Paul Ballard need to be thrown out a high window.

Brief thoughts )

Now, ten minutes to Dr Who. Eep. Will be interesting to see where this goes.

Back from [livejournal.com profile] get__together. Was awesome to hang around with fangirls for the weekend watching vids, and watching some very cool fannish presentations. I was also reminded how awesome Fidel's eggs florentine is. Mmm. I am tired though, and almost, kinda *gasp* media-ed out. Which is why I'm sitting in front of a screen now. ;)

However, I include this, which is unrelated but something I found this morning and said I'd link to.

Dark Knight trailer mixed with Toy Story. I may not look at Woody the same again. Well done though.

Have left the decision about Armageddon in Auckland quite late. Will have to check flights.

Work tomorrow. Can't say I'm looking forward to it. *sigh*

Random link: Jon Stewart as a Peanuts character with Linus blanket!

I know I've linked to them before, but John Oliver and Andy Zaltman's "The Bugle" podcasts are made of many, many different kinds of awesome. I was listening to them at work today (while working, really) and I have not consistently laughed at something so hard in ages. <3!

Also, I just watched last night's Daily Show on the site, and John Oliver's Fox 'documentary' was really sort of wonderful. In a ripping-FOX-to-shreds kinda way ;) And the interview was really interesting too.

I embed them under the cut because I can, as well as a couple of other TDS clips I had to watch again while I was on the site.

How so awesome? )

Also, while I am overusing the word awesome in a post. SGA fandom = most awesome fandom ever, for many reasons.

I was reminded of this post by [livejournal.com profile] mona1347 I memoried a while back (read: two years), which draws hilarious comparisons between fandoms and the hard drugs they represent. SGA is totally acid.

I kept meaning to post for the last couple of weeks and just never quite got there. I meant to at least post about the US elections and Rumsfeld's resignation and all sorts of things, because really if I have an obsessive fandom at the moment that's not the Rolling Stones, it's US politics (Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert included), but no, that didn't happen.

I also haven't been watching a lot of TV (as really, there is nothing on here) but I have been reading TWoP re-caps and the like for VMars, Grey's and Studio 60. Not so much BSG (trying to stay kind of spoiler free) and House (really not sure why, it may have to do with the House re-capper). I have been reading posts on the flist though. Supernatural really did eat fandom, huh?

However, the last ep of House involved Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard and John Laroquette on a road trip!? There is no bad there. I still have ridiculous love for Laroquette's one episode appearance in TWW. Ridiculous love. I may have to watch that ep today.

I usually go for a wander around town on Saturday and track down a coffee, but the weather is a little iffy and I'm already hyper due to the chocolate I had for breakfast (yes, I know, believe me, I know). Honestly Wellington, I love you really, and I don't regret my move for a second, but your climate? Can suck rather hard some days. It's November!

I ended up staying up till 4:30am last night, because this wiki ate my brain. (link via [livejournal.com profile] polonius). It's about tropes used in TV and to some degree anime and it was in turns hilarious and fascinating and I just couldn't stop clicking the links. Damn you internet.

Also due to the internet's wonder I got to see the documentary Jesus Camp last night. Yeah ... I may have yelled at the TV a lot. Just OMGWTF. They're just kids!

Finally, Casino Royale needs to be out here now. 7 December is too far away.
