Day 04 - a song that reminds you of someone

This one is a bit weird for two reasons: 1) I don't really associate songs with people all that much, and 2) because of the connection between this song and my friend S. I'm not really sure why I associate it with her, but I think it has something to do with Patti Smith songs being in In My Father's Den and I watched that with her ... yeah, it's a little tentative, but when it came up on my iPod I thought of her, so here you go.

Patti Smith - Gloria

Live on Jools Holland and the list of days )

I'm watching an NCIS repeat, and I sort of prefer Tony's S1 hair.

Abby: This guy I know does an upper body workout just before a date so he feels "pumped"
Gibbs: Does Tony know you know?
Abby: Does Tony know you know?

Cute! And the Gibbs grin that followed it was awesome. Mark Harmon. <3

Also, talking of cute, Charlie Brooker is engaged. I find this adorable.

I seem to be developing a cold, and I have to go to the dentist tomorrow. Ugh. However, I do get to sleep in, and I did make awesome banana bread tonight, so that's something.

My four day weekend is over. *sigh* I got an extra day because my work had an extra holiday. It's been nice, but being home by myself today made me think back to the months I spent unemployed and how I really don't want to go back there. Really. *wills the British economy in an upward direction*

Doctor Who: Cold Blood )

Also, it is quite possible I spent far too many hours watching NCIS episodes this long weekend. I saw a tweet from Rob who writes Topless Robot a cool geek blog, about how NCIS is the crack cocaine of procedural television, and that is so true, dude.

Thoughts, spoilers up to Rule Fifty One )

Random things that have made me happy today:

Amy Pond vid by [livejournal.com profile] kaydeefalls. Just a gorgeous look at Amy, and it reminded me again what a great songwriter Vienna Teng is.

Hi I'm a Marvel and I'm a DC 100th episode: The Musical: Action figure Iron Man! Singing! About continuity! Anyway, it's awesome. I love the guy who does these, they're so well done. Warning: the song is extremely catchy.

So, for reasons not exactly passing understanding, I stayed up till 4am to watch a live stream of the Emmys, with the AV Club's live-blog open (which was actually pretty entertaining) and for the last hour or so chatting away to [livejournal.com profile] tangleofthorns.

Emmys 2009 )

Had a pretty good weekend. There was quite a lot of alcohol on Friday and Saturday nights, but omg, caprioscas at The Big Chill bar off Brick Lane are awesome.

Small TV obsession of the moment: I seem to be back to watching NCIS. Oh, McGee, Tony, Gibbs and Abby, I love you.

I really have to get around to watching Dollhouse. I've had it for ages now and just never got around to it.

25 so far? Not too bad.

I had a cool morning tea at work on Friday where I got wishlist books (John Hodgman and Matt Taibi for the win) and my friend freaking made me a soft toy Adipose! It's adorable. And then I got ah, rather randomly drunk on Friday night. (Mmm, cocktails).

Saturday I had some friends over, which was very cool, but the weather was crap and quite a few people were busy and couldn't make it, which was a little disappointing, but I still had a good night.

Mum has also been in town, which has been really nice and included random train trips, good food, and an Indiana Jones viewing.

My Indy thoughts, let me show you them )

Also, randomly, this video of Tony and Abby moments from NCIS is just too cute. I love them both and it's almost making me want to track down some episodes again.

The Dresden Dolls were just so damn awesome.

There were too many support acts and their set was a lttle on the short side but I loved it. Loved it.

So glad I went but ... I have work at 8am. Oy. There will be much caffeine tomorrow. Even more than I had today, which was a hell of a lot.

Also, I watched my first episode of NCIS for quite some time the other night, and I forgot how much I enjoy it. The plots really are quite ridiculous but the character interaction is love. Gibbs, Tony, Abby, McGee and Ziva just rock. However the new director and the lab-tech guy? So. Annoying.

Shows that aren't airing but I am renting DVDs of:

Bablyon 5 S1

Conclusion: *headdesk*

A few thoughts on Grey's Anatomy )

NCIS 202: The Good Wives Club )

Bed now. Oh yes. I have to be up far too soon.

Edit: Hugh Laurie won a TV Critics Award. *dances* So much love.

German GP Briefly: I'm not his biggest fan, but you have to feel for Kimi. It is interesting that Montoya's (grr) is far more reliable and that three of Alonso's six victories have come from races Kimi has been leading. Yay Jenson. Michael ... well, what can you say?
