1. London Film and Comic Con was a little underwhelming, to be honest. Did manage to see Katee Sackhoff do her 30 minute Q&A though, and she was adorable! 30 minutes wasn't long enough though. I spied Ben Browder (hot) and some others. Didn't see Mike Tyson (thankfully, it just freaks me out he was there), or William Shatner, whose Q&A cost money and who was in his own separate space for autographs.

After her cute Q&A I did get Katee's autograph (didn't really say a lot) and then picked up some adorable stickers.

Ozymandias and Nick Fury should not look this cute. Also, tribbles! )

2. My friend who I went to the con with lent me Fringe S1 on DVD and I watched an episode (or five) last night.

Thoughts so far )

I have managed to spoil myself a little though as I went reading Wikipedia when I shouldn't have. It's nothing I didn't have a vague inkling about though.

3. True Blood: Trouble )

4. Day 14. A song you listen to when you're happy

This was harder than I thought, because they're aren't a lot of songs I play just when I'm happy but I settled on this, because it's catchy, upbeat and I play it quite a bit.

The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger

List of days )

5. I made the best salad for dinner. Roast sweet potato/kumara, fresh spinach, feta and sesame and pumpkin seeds. Really good! But then I ate far too many peanut M&Ms. *sigh*

6. I have F1 tickets in my possession! \o/

7. I keep coming across the surname Banatvala at work, and every time I picture the red spiky Bannakaffalatta in "Voyage of the Damned." It amuses me, because the work it involves sure doesn't. It's fine, but I am over it. Oh yes. If I have to look at one more set of papers ...

Day 04 - a song that reminds you of someone

This one is a bit weird for two reasons: 1) I don't really associate songs with people all that much, and 2) because of the connection between this song and my friend S. I'm not really sure why I associate it with her, but I think it has something to do with Patti Smith songs being in In My Father's Den and I watched that with her ... yeah, it's a little tentative, but when it came up on my iPod I thought of her, so here you go.

Patti Smith - Gloria

Live on Jools Holland and the list of days )

I'm watching an NCIS repeat, and I sort of prefer Tony's S1 hair.

Abby: This guy I know does an upper body workout just before a date so he feels "pumped"
Gibbs: Does Tony know you know?
Abby: Does Tony know you know?

Cute! And the Gibbs grin that followed it was awesome. Mark Harmon. <3

Also, talking of cute, Charlie Brooker is engaged. I find this adorable.

I seem to be developing a cold, and I have to go to the dentist tomorrow. Ugh. However, I do get to sleep in, and I did make awesome banana bread tonight, so that's something.

I am finished work for the year! \o/ And my Yuletide fic was uploaded on time! \o/

I must admit, in total me fashion, now, a day and a bit before Christmas I am feeling a little Christmas-y. I had a choice to take tomorrow off and I'm so glad I did in the end, because I have to cook soup for Christmas Day and I thought it might also be a good time to try the chocolate and raspberry brownie recipe [livejournal.com profile] china_shop posted. Things will be achieved, I may have time for Yuletide Madness, and I'll get to sleep in a little. ;)

Merlin: The Last Dragonlord )

I have to give props to BBC Two for their line-up tonight: Top of the Pops 2 Christmas Special, a Grumpy Guide to Christmas, Never Mind The Buzzcocks Christmas special, Russell Howard live (<3), QI and then Mock the Week Christmas special. I need to see a Russell Howard show at some point, he was so good.

I keep thinking there's something else I want to mention in this post, but I can't remember right now.

Random yay: I will have a broadband connection when I read Yuletide this year. *is impatient*

Edit: I was going to go to bed, and then along comes the episode of Have I Got News for You that I meant to catch up on. Life, so hard. Also, is David Tennant on QI tomorrow as well as having been on Buzzcokcs a week ago?! I mean, yay, but that is a lot of David Tennant on TV right now. I wonder why. ;)

1. There's a reason I try and not buy chocolate biscuits and M&Ms while I'm at the supermarket, and that's because I have very little self-control and they disappear embarrassingly quickly. In the last two days I've brought both of the above, and neither are here any more. Exercise tomorrow. Oh, yes.

2. I settled down to watch Flash Forward last night. I'm still pretty impressed that the UK premiere was less than a week after the US one. Well played, Channel 5, well played.

Flash Forward: No More Good Days )

3. Have nothing really to say about the latest HIMYM except that I enjoyed it immensely.

4. Washing machine died today (while my clothes were in it sadly, though they were eventually recovered) however, I found out this evening that the landlord has already agreed to buy us a new one this week. Go proficient landlords. Also, we now have a working DVD player after I cleaned the heads. Yay.

5. Since I've been home more often, I've had a chance to try some cool recipes, most of which have been fairly successful. On Sunday I made this salmon and spinach risotto (with some small adjustments), then made these risotto balls with the leftovers (which were amazing). I've also made this awesome moussaka, and these huevos rancheros.

Next up, I think this roasted tomato and lentil soup.

There may have been a little too much food tv in my life recently. ;)

6. Jeremy Paxman entertains me and amuses me far more than I feel he should. His mixture of scorn, skepticism, snark and sarcasm is just quite awesome to behold. I've watched Univeristy Challenge almost every week since I've been here and I now seem to be watching Newsnight as well. (I'm so, so looking forward to being over here for a General Election).

Now, enough with the bullet points, I have a ridiculous amount of Firefox tabs open (and I don't say that lightly as the current count is 95) that I should try and reign in before my laptop loses its sense of humour.

It's really been an awesome weekend. Watched DVDs Friday and Saturday night (Silence of the Lambs, 24 Hour Party People, Breach, Junebug - in order of preference from awesome to good, but not great), accompanied by a vegetarian feast on Saturday, and now going for a Sunday roast tonight.

And to keep with the food theme, I said I'd bring dessert tonight, and I decided to have a go at the recipie [livejournal.com profile] labellementeuse posted aages ago and I saved in my memories. Cookies and cream cupcakes! And, they turned out really well! I hardly have mad baking skillz, but these might be the best thing I've baked. There are photos here. (I am growing quite fond of the macro setting on my camera). My icing skills could use some work though.

Should have done OE planning, but um, yes, this week, definitely. *nods*

BSG: Someone to Watch Over Me )

I also have got my little hands on the first couple discs of The Wire S1. I've watched 3 eps and I'm really enjoying it so far.

I have thai coconut, chili and lime prawns, bok choi and rice and it is awesome. Strangely I have political blogger Ezra Klein to thank for this, as he posted this prawn recipe and then I got a serious craving. So glad I tramped to the supermarket to get them. Somedays, I can actually cook things. \o/

Weekend was very low key and I spent basically all day Sunday reading. I am reading a lot more books at the moment, and this pleases me because the last few years I have rather failed in that department. I just finished Douglas Coupland's Microserfs and now I've moved onto Jack Goldsmith's The Terror Presidency, both are well worth reading.

On top of this, what had the capacity to be a crappy work day, wasn't all that bad.

Now Bones and then new Dr.Who.

Edit: "Elephants are not purple. This is wrong." Oh, Bones. <3 Ten minutes in and this episode is already awesome.

My day has mostly been pretty eh. I woke up at 3am in a panic because I thought I'd forgotten to organise something at work (I went in to work to check, I hadn't), I then slept badly and every time I wanted a shower this morning someone else was in there and I was just tired and grumpy, and reading about the Republican Debate (total WTF on the abortion and evolution questions, and having debates this fucking early) made me angy and I was angry at myself and just, eh.

However, I decided to make myself some real food and ended up making the best tasting vegetarian curry I've made in quite a while (patience makes a difference when cooking, who'd have thunk it?) and reading Dave's Long Box, which is a hilarious comics blog I found via [livejournal.com profile] kphoebe's always delightful [livejournal.com profile] girlsreadcomic.

Particular highlights are the two-part review of Thor #499, and his post on Saliva Strand Syndrome - a silent killer. He even wrote a post bashing Gambit, and I laughed. (Because dude that allusion to Richard Gere is kinda apt). I like Gambit!

Oh, comics. I may not read you nearly as much any more but I shall always have a soft spot for you and your complete and utter insanity.

My evening has definitely improved.

And now I'm craving ice-cream, but can I be bothered to go down the hill and get some?

Also, do I watch Collateral (not a big fan of Tom Cruise, or Jamie Foxx, though I do like Michael Mann movies) or keep on playing on the internet?

These are questions for the ages.

Finally, I love The Daily Show. There are a couple of calls in that piece that are just awesome.
