owlbeer: (Harvey's face)
On Sunday I was achieving things until about 2pm when I fell down a Harvey and Donna feelings hole on Tumblr and never recovered … yeah I don’t know either. Stupid S2 and their stupid faces. I need hockey to come back and distract me.

blah blah feelings )

Seriously Season 2, this is all your fault. I was not prepared for this!

The little snippets I'm hearing about the summer finale has me all '!!!' too.

Talking of hockey, Marek and Wysh were back (and geeky and talking a lot about London), and I might actually be legitimately disappointed if Mike Richards doesn’t turn up in Jeff Carter’s ‘day with the Cup’ photos or vice-versa. I do find the fact he did actually give the Cup at lifejacket pretty adorable though.

And to relate these two topics! Because I can, watch me. There might be some words in a GDocs near you where Donna is a Rangers fan and her and Harvey discuss what a good/hot goalie Hank is? You know, MAYBE because this is apparently what my brain does now.

I blame Sarah Rafferty and her tweets with Michael Del Zotto.

I also just saw posts with VividCon recs on my flist. Oh dear. There goes my evening. Heresluck made a Wire vid? *squeak*

But I will apply for that job first. I will. Already applied for one today and I have an interview on Thursday, which is a good thing. Would love to have something sorted before I go to Europe ... which is in three weeks today! \o/

Okay, lies I watched this Tony vid (which I don't think is technically a VVC vid so shush) because it's set to a cover of maybe my favourite Radiohead song and well ... Tony. All my Tony feelings. It's a really great vid.

And if you haven't seen it yet there's an Avengers gag reel out and it's pretty great.

Olympics! \o/

The opening ceremony was crazy but in a good way. I thought it lost it's way in places and I'm sorry but solo Paul McCartney just doesn't do it for me, but most of it was great. Loved, loved the cauldron and how it included pieces that were carried in with the teams. <3! Overall I thought Danny Boyle did a great job and um, good on him for scoring a few political points along the way. Seriously.

Looking forward to watching the events now I have the live streaming sorted. Stupid DNS settings.

Job wise: I have an interview for a temp job on Tuesday! It's not exactly what I want to be doing but it's an okay job and it will accommodate my UK/Europe trip, mean I won't have to deal with Work and Income and I'm really over this unemployment thing. So, fingers crossed.

Thoughts and feelings:

The Dark Knight Rises (spoilers) )

Suits 2x06 )

Fanart rec: This is the top post on my Tumblr right now and I keep flipping back to the tab. Sleeepy Avengers. <3 So much awesome fanart in that particular fandom.

So um, Avengers midnight screening.

Initial spoiler-laden, expletive ridden, OMFG thoughts )

Anyway, just had to get that out.

There's been a lot of caffeine today. A lot. Even for me. I would say I should sleep but yay public holiday tomorrow so I think it will likely be reading The AV Club's Game of Thrones review and maybe an episode of Avatar. (I'm at around 2.15 and OMG I love them allll so much).

My icon is entirely too appropriate for this post.

I am used to being a sports fan, but playoff hockey is something else. I am not used to this whole seven-game-series, games-everyday thing and it's ... something. Something quite stressful. I filled in a bracket as part of [livejournal.com profile] sixteenwins, and I was going okay in the Eastern Conference but failing in the Western Conference ... until today, when the Eastern Conference was full of fail (I really expected the Rangers to win, and let's not get into the Pens scoring 10 goals - even though I was happy for JStaal) but Vancouver actually won a game! (I actually am fairly indifferent about Canucks/Kings but my bracket would prefer the Canucks).

So yeah, still with the hockey thing.

Game of Thrones 2x03 - contains future spoilers )

Haven't got to Mad Men, or last week's Community. I did watch The Good Wife which I found just okay, but I am very interested to see where everything is going.

I also probably had Fringe thoughts, but it's been a while since the episode. Overall, I liked it quite a lot.

I haven't done this ages:

Music meme!

1. If you'd like to play along, reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. You then list at least five songs that start with that letter.
3. Then, as I'm doing here, you'll post the list to your journal with the instructions.

[personal profile] musesfool gave me the letter C.

The Animaniacs - Countries of the World - I just had to when I got this letter. It's out of date now but it's so well done. Norway, Finland, Iceland, Sweeden ... Algeria, Ghana!

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert - Can I Interest You in Hannukah? -Jon and Stephen sing about holidays. We have dreidels/ What are they? / Wooden tops. We have candles/ What are they? /THEY ARE CANDLES! And when we light them, oh the fun it never stops.

The Arrogant Worms - Canada is Really Big - because I am all about comedy songs tonight apparently. We're the second biggest country, and if Russia keeps shrinking, soon we will be first.

The Gaslight Anthem - Casanova, Baby! - I think I can blame [livejournal.com profile] tangleofthorns for the number of TGA songs I have. I like them a lot. They have an Springsteen-ish feel but with a little more rock, maybe? This song has great drum beat and great lyrics. We could run all night / And dance upon the architecture / Come and take my hand /I'll do the very best I can.

Colin Meloy - Cupid (Sam Cooke Cover) - Choosing this song might go hand in hand with compiling this list at 1am. Anyway, I go through stages with Colin Meloy's voice but this is such a good cover.

Janelle Monae - Cold War - catchy, nice beat and I'll be honest, I like the fact that the title reminds me of history. This is a cold war / do you know what you're fighting for?

The Puppini Sisters - Crazy in Love (Beyonce Cover) (The Tuesday Weld Remix) - I have no idea how this ended up in my iTunes but I've become really fond of it. It's a remix of a Beyonce cover and it's got a old-school feel (Wikipedia describes The Puppini Sisters as a close-harmony trio), but danced up a little bit. Catchy as hell.

James Blake - CMYK - I love songs which sample other songs well, and this song is full of bits of different sounds and samples layered over the top of each other. Look I found her / in a red coat / look I found her.

I am awfully tempted to mainline Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America this weekend in preparation for the Avengers release on Wednesday. Midnight screening. \o/

Oreos are on special at the supermarket this week. I don't want to talk about how many packets I've bought. *shakes head at self* I also believe that being temporarily employed is making it worse, as it means I'm walking past the supermarket nearly everyday.

What self-discipline?

So, I had the best of intentions of going home after work and cooking myself a healthy dinner and doing things like applying for jobs. What I actually did was have a couple of beers and curry (It had vegetables in my defence) with friends and came home and played around on the internet. Yeah. It's not that surprising.

I did however get some potentially good news about a possible extension of my contract at work, which would be nice, but I am remaining cautious about the whole thing.

In my playing around on the internet I did come across some things I wanted to rec.

First, this awesome amazing Wire vid. Beautiful Struggle by [personal profile] sdwolfpup. It's a Carver vid to a Talib Kweli song and OMG I love it so much. It's just so amazingly done and Carver and Bodie and Randy! After watching it I was so disappointed that I don't own the show on DVD so I could re-watch some things. I loved Carver and his journey so much on the show and this vid really did it justice.

And then two H50 fics:

just your typical saturday (1030 words) by faviconsomehowunbroken

Wherein there is Steve and Danny and a cat and it's a little crack-y but also so in character and adorable. Adored it.

Wish You Were Here (535 words) by faviconimaginarycircus

Gorgeous Steve and Catherine scene with beautiful imagery and I really love them.

And there was some sort of Avengers trailer, which totally contributed to me arriving later to work this morning than I had intended.
