Oh H50, I talk about another fandom and you give me this:

Hawaii Five-0: 2x19 )

Amusingly I was listening to The Slash Report's podcast on the H50 premiere just today. It brought back my start of season rage a little. *shakes fist* It makes a lot of fair points and yet ... I can't give it up, and after tonight's ep I'm not going to for a while longer.

I actually spent quite a lot of today listening to many episodes of the Slash Report podcast (thanks [personal profile] labellementeuse for reminding me it exists) which made for an interesting work-day. I just needed to work though processing a series of rather boring and repetitive corrections and it definitely helped.

More sleep may have helped too tbh. ;) But as I really should be writing a cover letter, I won't be sleeping quite yet tonight.

Cover-letters are the worst btw.

I was supposed to be doing productive things this evening, but instead I ended up at my friend's house watching a S1 episode of ST:TNG. I cannot quite believe they did the, 'oh look a mysterious thing is making us all feel drunk and lustful' quite that early on its run, I mean it was like the 3rd episode of the whole show! Of course now I sort of want to re-watch TNG but OMG self not the time. Too many other things.

I did however pick up some UK candy my friend found for me (MiniEggs!) and got my passport renewal form signed, so that's something in the productive and deliciousness columns.

In other news, the hockey thing rolls on. I spent a lot of weekend watching hockey videos, and I have become invested in whether the Hurricanes make the play-offs. (They won today! And Eric scored twice!) I still don't quite get fandom's obsession with Crosby and Kaner though - or okay, I do get it, but I don't share it

You know how sometimes you're just ready for a new fandom? This is totally what happened here.

To top off a sports fan weekend, I went to watch the Australian GP at a sports bar since so few of them are on at a convenient time in NZ, and Jenson won! And he and Seb were adorable afterwards! All the hugs.

I have accepted the fact that Seb is my #2 driver - sorry Lewis, it was never going to happen.

The Good Wife: Gloves Come Off )

I am still quite awake. It was probably the energy drinks my work-mate bought to get us through our meeting this afternoon - after I'd already had two coffees - wasn't it? Yes. That was probably it.

Haha. Oh this was so predictable.

I seem to have developed a hockey thing. I have been enjoying reading alll the primers, and watching alll the YT clips. I love fandom-assisted learning. Jeff Skinner, what is your smile?! Eric Staal, why are you so tall, blonde and endearing? I am intrigued by many things. So many teams, so many ridiculous people.

Also, (because why not embrace all the sports fandoms at once?) why didn't someone tell me there was a West-Wing inspired Footballers-running-a-US-Senate-campaign fic! The District by [livejournal.com profile] dorkorific. (Xabi Alonso/Steven Gerrard, Iker Casillas, Cesc Fabregas and alll the footballer cameos you could want). It's just delightful. Truly delightful. I also have developed feelings about Xabi Alonso (he's like Liverpool's Thierry Henry). Fair warning: it's a WiP. But it's so goood. Also, guys, there is a Rahm cameo. Raahhhm.

No, no caffeine or sugar at all today, why do you ask? ;)

I wrote this in my last entry: In happier news, I am cautiously optimistic that my contract at work is being extended for a little while, but I really need to get on that permanent-job thing. Yeah ... not so much. There is still a chance, but it's pretty small. I have some money saved and I can always temp for a bit, but it still sucks. Hard. My next three weeks are going to be dominated by job-hunting. I can hardly contain my excitement.

So as always when I have important things to do in RL ... shiny new fandoms all around!

H50, I still love you. For the most part.

  1. The weather today has been awful so I have dedicated today to watching ALL the Parks and Rec (I started on 2x21 this morning and now I'm watching 3x15. Oops?) So much love. So much. Ron and Leslie's friendship has reminded me how much I love well-done platonic friendships between men and women. Ron and Leslie, Sheridann and Ivanovia, Will and Diane. Also, Ben! Ben and Leslie are so precious. I want to hug them forever.

  2. Hawaii Five-0 2x18 )

  3. I also just heard about Alex taking a break from the show because of issues with pain medication following a shoulder injury. :( Oh, darling. I'm glad he's getting the help he needs and wish him all the best. xx It hits a bit close to home with something happening in RL too. All too real.

  4. Babylon 5 watching now in S5. The end of S4 was so good. Feelings.

  5. I finally got around to reading gyzym's Avalanche of Detour Signs (Sherlock, Molly and Molly/Lestrade). So, so good. Molly <3

  6. My laptop did incredibly weird shutting-down things last night but it seems okay today. It's 4.5 years old and this year is so not the time for it to die. *hugs it close*

  7. In happier news, I am cautiously optimistic that my contract at work is being extended for a little while, but I really need to get on that permanent-job thing.

Fringe: The End of All Things )

Undecided about whether to see Ides of March or Moneyball tomorrow. Maybe. But I do also need to do some things that I avoided today. *sigh* Today I queued up for $20 Arts Festival tickets and went to an interesting theatre show that was kind of an adaption of Hamlet - and kind of about performing Hamlet. Also, there was a Great Dane.

On a total The National kick at the moment. Bought some more of their songs this morning. So good. I was also looking through YT clips and this version of Mr. November (favourite song) is interesting if only for the fact that Matt Berninger manages to keep singing while being fall-down drunk. Literally. He falls down.

I seem to have forgotten about dinner. Silly internet. Silly face of Alex O'Loughlin.

Hawaii Five-0 2x17 - there shall be no discussion of the plot under this cut )

And in the weekend there was this:

Fringe: A Better Human Being )

I enjoyed The Good Wife as well but don't have anything really substantial to say except that I adore Will and Diane's friendship so very much. I am also getting a little over Eli - I hope that changes.

I am also still watching allll the Babylon 5 - I'm now mid S4 which is further than I've watched before and the plotting is just so good - even if the acting can be a little hit and miss and the the 1990's take on future fashion is frightening. I must admit that I spoiled myself completely for the rest of the series last night by reading episode summaries. My need to know overcame my willingness to take the time to watch another season and a half. Impatient? Me? I will watch the rest of course, I can just take it a little slower now. ;)

So um ... food I guess.

Hawaii Five-2.16 )

The thought of an H50 'American President' AU also crossed my mind today. IDEK.

I didn't get around to posting about the latest episode of Fringe but suffice to say I pretty much adored every second of it. <3

I meant to be productive tonight and barring cooking myself a quite nice vege curry, I've completely failed. I need to rewrite my CV and look for jobs - my contract expires at the end of March - and ugh adult-ness.

... oh look at episode of Babylon 5 I am half the way through.
owlbeer: (Steve adores)
Hawaii Five-0 - 2x15 )

B5 watch continues: G'Kar <3

I am not happy that apparently they aren't going to include performances of the Best Song nominees at the Oscars. Fuck you, Oscars, Bret singing with Muppets would have been awesome. I hope they change their minds.

I may have brought t-shirt today. I know, more geeky t-shirts, but Troy and Abed!

Edit: Do you know what you shouldn't discover at 11:40pm when you have work tomorrow? That one of your favourite authors has posted a new 30,000 word canon AU. it opens with a Steve and Jenna scene, you guys ... what is self control, exactly?

Fringe: Making Angels )

--

It's been a nice weekend; there's been fangirl catch-ups, I finally put together the collage of some of my postcards/tickets/etc from my overseas travels, I watched Mean Girls for the first time (yes I know, it took me long enough) which was hilarious and some internet memes are now making a lot more sense, and today was the Super Bowl, which was a pretty good, at-times-quite-stressful game. I was happy for the Giants, they deserved their win.

Collage pic below if you're curious )

Also um, I just spent the last couple of hours reading Hockey RPF. This runaway!Jeff Skinner fic in fact. Um, it was really good, you guys and I kind of want to know many more things about Eric Staal (other than the fact that he's the captain/older brother figure and he's younger than me). I feel this was slightly inevitable as I've always been tempted by hockey fandom, but I do also blame the fact that it was all over my flist when I caught up this afternoon. (Upside: hockey may distract me from caring too much about H50 ... don't look at me like that, I said may).

I am also starting a Babylon 5 re-watch/watch (I've seen a lot of it but there's holes in my viewing). I love Londo and G'Kar so much, and Ivanonva is all sort of awesome.

I feel there was something else I meant to put in this, but no doubt I won't remember until after I push the post button.

The Good Wife: Another Ham Sandwich )

That has totally made my night.

I also remembered something I meant to mention in my last post. I finally finished Cryoburn this weekend.

Spoilery thoughts )
