Reactions x 3
Jul. 9th, 2006 03:53 pmTake it as a given there are spoilers under all of these cuts.
David Tennant just rocked. I loved his whole babble about what kind of man he was.
OMG, he was revived by tea. That is so awesome.
Loved the twist at the end too.
Overall, so much love. Eeee.
Overall, I liked it. Mostly. Kinda. There were bits I loved and quite a few bits I was eh about. Admittedly I am not up on my Superman comic or movie canon, so I accept that some of the stuff went a little over my head. Also, Superman has never really been a favourite of mine.
I thought Brandon Routh did pretty well. He certainly sold me. Kate Bosworth wasn't as good, but not all that irritating. Parker Posey was just irritating, but I get the feeling that was more her character than her acting. Kevin Spacey acted well, but I think Lex could have been done a bit better personally. Jimmy Marsden was awesome and I really liked his character. *mutters about X3*
The Awesome: The special effects, the scene with Lois and Superman flying and the Clark flasbacks at the start. Also, the fact that Lois got to save Superman was pretty damn cool.
My main criticisam up to the last 5 minutes was that I didn't really care about any of the characters but from the moment Jason kissed Superman's head on ... yeah, that was awesome. Martha, Superman at Jason's bedisde and that last scene. Loved it
I did think there were a few plot issues. I don't know whether this was originally comic plot, or something new, but Lex's plan was a little ... odd. That might be just me. Also, it was a little disjointed in places. It felt qiote choppy and sometimes I did wonder how long it had to go. I didn't really feel into in until the last 5 minutes.
On a shallow level, loved Lois's coat when she was on the boat. I have such a thing for long coats. Guh.
Also, a rather belated reaction to the
No Lost or Desperate Housewives? Hehehe. *cough* Such a shame.
No Hugh? WTF? Good to see House get a Best Drama nom though. I don't expect them to get it.
Kevin James? WTF? That is a weird category. Steve Carell should walk away with it.
Chandra Wilson! Awesome! That is a tough category though with Sandra Oh and Candice Bergen. (Boston Legal is a Drama how?)
The Emmys just can't escape the West Wing noms, can they? A goodbye nom, I suppose, which I kind of get.
The Tom Cruise ep of South Park got nominated? Oh, that is awesome. I so hope they win.
I really hope NZ TV picks up this 'Elizabeth I' mini-series that got so much nomination love beacause Helen Mirren + Jeremy Irons (as Leicester, no less) + Elizabethan History = LOVE.
I was happy to see Christina Ricci get a nod for her guest part on Grey's and I quite like that they got a Writing nod for that ep. Two writing noms? Might have been a little too much, but to be fair the other ep nominated, I missed.
PotC2 and Doctor Who finale spoilers on my flist at the same time? Takes a lot of self control.
