I may have woken up at 6am to watch this.
Aug. 24th, 2008 10:24 amWell, then. I am not disappointed Mr Wright. Don't think you're completely in my good books, but this, well, it helped. Quite a bit.
Let's start with the moment that I have rewatched more times that is healthy:
PIER SCENE!
John!Bracelet! And the reason for the sweat band becomes clear. ;) I mean clearly it's Joe's (and that's really rather hot) but still, it's made a canon appearance.
Realistically, I don't think the jacket Rodney wore later on in the ep was meant to be John's, but I think it was physically the same jacket, so I happily handwave. ;)
I've also seen that scene described as the closest SGA has gotten to televised fanfic (and this show goes far closer than most with Millers Crossing, Doppelganger, the start of Outcast ...) but seriously, if I read that in fic it would take a great writer to convince me that Rodney would run to John's room calling out his name, and there would be touching, and John would give Rodney his jacket, and they would drink beer on the pier and laugh and refuse to say goodbye and ... just, dude.
And the end! The end is love!
Also, I keep fixating on Joe's bare feet. So cute!
And John's smile! And his face afterwards was all, "I'm in control. Totally. No feelings at all. Really."
Other points of awesome:
The way Rodney's face totally lit up when John started talking in the hospital room, and as soon as John suggested they take him to the shrine, he agreed straight away.
Also, was what he was muttering at the end of that scene the numbers to pi? Or am I imagining things? Because that would be a great suble touch.
Jeannie! Kate Hewlett rocked her scenes, and the goodbye scene, and with Ronon and, yeah. <3
Ronon now calls people 'buddy' too.
"I owe him this. I'll take him myself." "I'll go with him." <3
Woolsey's story about his father. Robert Picardo was amazing and it makes me tear up every single time. *sniff*
The way John flew across the room when Rodney screamed.
When they're getting checked out at the start there is totally a Joe1smile when Jason walks up to Joe. It's kinda out of place and not quite John, but it's adorable. I will have to see if I can cap it.
The exchange on the gate. "I think I'm more damp that you." "Oh, I think I got pretty wet, dailing the DHD."
"It's probably a hammer." Just loved DHew's delivery.
Also, 'Do you have an itinerary planned?' Hee.
Love the going back and forth between the flashbacks and the main story.
The McKay/Keller. Eh, I didn't mind it. I'm not an enthusiastic supporter or anything, but with the sheer weight of "John!" calling, John!hovering, John!wibbling ... well, i think the ep was weighted in favour of a 'ship, and it wasn't really that one.
I don't think it was quite up to the level of 'Tao' or some other eps, but it was still awesome. Show!
Right, now I need to get up and do things, after completely failing to do anything yesterday bar sleep, watch a DVD and read things on the internet, also I need to find caffeine. Withdrawal headache, ow.
