owlbeerI just sat down (well, technically, I curled up on the couch) and watched the last five eps of S2 of Life on Mars, which by some miracle I had managed to not spoil myself for.
Fuck.
My initial strangely coherent (in places) reaction is under the cut.
Like I said, fuck. It's been a while since a show has screwed with and blown my mind like that in quite some time. Doctor Who has been close, but not quite like this. I liked it. Oh, yes. Screw with my mind anytime.
I was always pretty sure that it all was in Sam's head, but I must admit they nearly got me there in the last ep with the, 'no you're really from 1973' thing. My personal favourite theory was always that he was a time traveler, but I knew it was also extremely unlikely. They did a pretty good of keeping all the options open though.
I couldn't quite believe they went through with Sam throwing himself off the building. I was like 'this is quite depressing, and look, it's about to get ... no, no their not ... yes, yes they are ... fuck, this show!'
I admit to becoming quite a big Sam/Annie 'shipper at the end there. I was totally at the 'oh just kiss her already' stage. I may have in fact, been uh saying that to the TV screen. It just needed to happen at the end and it did. \o/ I don't know if I'd go down the fic road with them because I don't know how much there is to say bar 'they live happy ever after' (but I'm open to being proved wrong on that). But I do also have quite a liking for Sam/Gene, so there's an option. ;)
We never got to meet Gene's wife. I was hoping we'd get one tiny moment, but alas no. I remain extremely curious about her.
Also, the episode when Sam was overdosed was awesome. As was the one with Maya and okay, yeah, they all pretty much rocked.
Oh, and John Simm. SO MUCH LOVE. YOU'RE FUCKING AWESOME.
Uh, yeah. I liked him?
And I loved that they ended with test pattern girl. <3
This show almost makes me re-think my generally spoiler-friendly attitude. Almost.
