That was okay. I was expecting something quite bad after reading a few non-spoilery reaction posts, but I liked most of it. It was the weakest of the three finales (and saying that, 'The Parting of Ways' and 'Doomsday' set the bar pretty high) and the resolution of 'if we all think poisitively about the Doctor' was a little on the lame side, and the fact that time happily reversed its self but there were some nice moments.
The Doctor being even more aged just made me think Voldermort in GoF. The big eyes were kinda cute though.
Oh, John Simm was just awesome. The last two eps I was still adjusting to his crazy, but I just embraced it in this ep and it was so much fun. The Scissor Sisters thing was a little cheesy but he did it so well. I think this was his strongest ep.
Could the Doctor/Master scenes been any slashier? I mean, honestly. He died in his arms. I did feel for the Doctor though, he was going to look after the Master and then that was taken from him. *sniff* However, that end at the pyre was interesting. Lucy is totally crazy!
Loved the funeral pyre. I'm just a sucker for a pyre. Don't know why, just am. I think I can probably trace it back to Achilles.
Jack as the Face of Boe! That's kinda awesome, but I have had pointed out to me since then ... how does he become just a Face? I suppose it's just 'it's the future' *handwave*
That little Doctor/Jack moment at the end when the Doctor asks Jack to come with him was damn cool too. I love that David Tennant kept that chemisty going with John Barrowman.
Finally, Martha. Love her. So much. She saved the world, and yes, she did it with the power of the Doctor, which is a little eh, but she did it, and I like that she had the guts to do what she did at the end. That's not an easy thing to do.
The Doctor ... alone again. And I must admit my heart did creak a little when he was all happy to have her back and you knew she wasn't going to stay. I hear Martha's back for at least part of next season though, so that's awesome. Not ideal, but at least she's back.
So, definitely not as strong as some of the recent eps, but still pretty good. The show's had a really solid run this season actually. It's been a fun ride and roll on Christmas.
Oh, I really should sleep. Why do I always stay up this late when I have work the next day?
PS: Keith Olbermann. I love you.
PPS: Pretty OotP premiere shots featuring David Tennant and John Simm. (I really need to track down Life on Mars, don't I?) I might be experiencing some sort of HP excitement now.
