I had a pretty eh day. I was tired and whiny and was feeling rather pathetic but I ended up finally renting Brokeback Mountain on DVD (gorgeous movie, I really loved it) which was the emotional catharsis I needed and since then there has been a rather pleasant walk, delicious ice-cream and lots of hilarious Daily Show and Colbert Report clips. Not a bad night all thing considered.

First off, David Tennant rocks all before him, but I have some more episode-specific thoughts.

New Earth: I would probably say this was my least favourite of the four. I still enjoyed it but I didn't love it. The body-swapping was hilarious but I didn't really feel engaged. The characterization of Ten in this ep was interesting though. To be honest it's been a month since I've seen it, so my thoughts are a little fuzzy.

Tooth and Claw: I've read a few reactions to this ep that mentioned Ten and Rose's rather cavalier attitude towards death and suffering in this ep and I must admit ... I didn't actually notice until it was pointed out to me later. *cough* I loved this ep. I liked the tie back to 'Torchwood' at the end and in general I thought it was a very enjoyable hour of TV. The 'we are not amused' joke did get a little tired though.

School Reunion: The A plot was ... iffy. Like I'd seen it before. Anthony Stewart Head is all good but I wasn't that engaged. I did like the meta that ran underneath it though and K9 was awesome. I do still feel that they keep going back to Rose's time far too much again like they did last season. I don't dislike Mickey, really, but I don't like seeing him a whole lot either. The Sarah Jane moments were interesting but didn't grab me. It's an ep I think might gain more on a repeat viewing.

The Girl in the Fireplace: In general I really liked this ep but the way Ten just went into to save Renette thinking that he was stranding himself irked me a little, and I don't quite know why. I mean sure, I am a bit of a Ten/Rose 'shipper, but not a crazy one and it just seemed like he made that decision a little too easily. Were we supposed to believe he was really in love with her? I suppose by the end we were. I must admit though, I did like a lot of their interaction, and I did have a couple of tears in my eyes at the end *sniff* Still, something irked me, but it was a small thing.

Reading back over those reactions they seem somewhat negative, but I am really loving the show in general.
