I haven't worked the last couple of days. I've just done... very little. I should be more actively looking for another job, I know that, but I'm being very picky about the process, not to mention a pretty big dose of chicken. I know this. I keep saying I'm going to do something about it and then don't. It's quite frustrating and very much my fault.
Anyway, enough with the RL, on to the fannish:
The OC 205: The SnO.C
This show just isn’t as genuinely entertaining as it was. Don’t get me wrong, some of it is still great but this whole ep I just felt something was missing from what they had last year.
I’m torn between wanting Seth and Summer to just get back together because their awkward interaction is so damn irritating and I want it to stop, and wanting them to stay apart because Seth has been pushing things that used to make him cute just that little bit too far. Sometimes I see glimpses of what I liked; the comment about Mr Freeze and Gotham, and in his interactions with Sandy and Kirsten, but some of the times, he’s actually quite irritating. (But if I can be shallow, Adam Brody really wore that suit when he went to the ball. Guh.)
Also, I can’t dislike Zach. I don’t know if I’m supposed to but he’s just so … nice. How can you hate him? Sure, he punched Seth, but he was so sorry about it. When his thing with Summer inevitably breaks apart I’m going to feel genuinely sorry for him.
And in sticking with the Seth and Summer theme. I thought Seth and Alex were actually really cute together at the end. I know what’s coming and I don’t see them conceivably together for a long time, but they were still cute.
Ryan and Lindsay? Eh. Now really, I should like Lindsay because she is quite the geek girl, but she leaves me a little cold. I’m willing to give them time, but two episodes when they were set up as lab partners left me wanting to claw out my eyeballs because it just felt so contrived, so I don’t know if it’s going to work for me. Ryan is adorable as ever (giving DJ his coat and tie was cute) but I’m just not the biggest fan of Lindsay. However, Freudian Slippers! That was brilliant.
However, anything, anything is better than him getting back together with Marissa. Because that would be almost unbearable. They are not a ‘meant to be’ couple. Sandy and Kirsten? Maybe even Summer and Seth? Sure. In no way are Ryan and Marissa even in that same universe. * shudders *
The older generation kicked as much ass as it usually does. I have a lot of love for Jimmy, Sandy and Kirsten while Julie is annoying me less than she has in the past. Sandy and Kirsten driving Seth out of the house was a great moment.
Spooks 305
No one will ever want to enter MI-5 after seeing this show as it just takes turns in completely screwing with each of it’s main characters lives and not just in small ways, but in huge ways. The last two seasons were all about screwing with Tom, and now this season they are screwing with Zoe and Danny, but Danny in particular. * pets him *
This ep was good but I missed about the first five minutes and that always makes episodes seem a little weird to me. As much as I adore Ruth, her storyline in his felt very forced; like it was just tacked on there. Poor thing though, it was never going to work when it was set up like that.
Firefly: Objects in Space
Yeah, I’m going to say this again. FOX, YOU CANCELLED THIS?! I, just, don’t get it. This ep was so good. All of the episodes have been so good. I liked all the characters and I was only apathetic towards Inara. It was funny and it had this nice ‘edge’ to it. It rocked. * sighs *
Anyway, like I said, this ep rocked.
Simon and Kaylee are so cute. I mean, in the end, Simon is always going to chose River first if anything goes down and a choice has to be made, so I have no allusions there, but there is feelings on both sides and yeah, just cute. Could Preacher have chosen a worse time to walk down a corridor though?
Simon just kept on sarcastically snarking and I loved him every time he did.
Wash: Isn’t that a little science fiction? (or something like that)
Zoe: Honey, you live on spaceship.
: D
Mal, how I loved you for being on top of that spaceship.
River, gah, you really came into your own here. *loves*
I really am wondering about Preacher’s back-story.
However, I wonder if Simon picked up on when the bounty hunter said that the feds had been tipped off on Ariel? Hmmm.
The thing is, it wasn’t even just the main characters that rocked in this, it was also the bounty hunter. He was freakier because he wasn’t just straight in and shoot them up. He was sneaky and creepy and he talked all the time. He was quite the interesting character.
Now, the only question is. Will TV3 be nice and play the three episodes that weren’t aired in the US? I think it unlikely, but god I hope so. If not, I have friends with the DVDs. Yay for fellow Joss Whedon loving friends. Also, I do realise they are making a movie but, I just wish they were still making episodes.
Also, I was going to write up the comics I've read recently but I don't really have a lot to say. Just, the Nigtwing kick continues, I am the proud owner of one Outsders trade and I really want to read some good Dick/Roy fic. This kick is proving expensive but very enjoyable. Mmm.
Finally, I lent a collection of short stories from the library the other week called Black Heart, Ivory Bones and discovered some really great stories, including one that really impressed me by Charles de Lint. I tracked down one of his novels on Monday (Spirits in the Wires) and I'm quite impressed with what I've read so far. Mmm, books.
EDIT: TV3 (according to their website) are playing the un-aired US eps! *dances around the room*
