Went to see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol this afternoon with
gnine. It was a lot of fun - probably the best of all the MI movies - and I am seeing this Jeremy Renner thing, yes I am. Paula Patton and Simon Pegg were awesome too.
Talked a lot of travelling this afternoon too which has motivated me to work on the collage I want to make of some of the postcards and tickets I collected in my travels. Part of me is always going to miss London/New York/Berlin isn't it? *sigh* Ah well.

Okay that was ... a little over-hyped. Don't get me wrong I liked it, a lot, but I didn't love it. I still have so many questions! And I couldn't get past some of the plot-holes like um dudes, doesn't that machine cause some serious universe degradation ... or does the bridge stabilise things? Just one throw-away line explaining it is all I ask!
And why is Amber Walternate (do we need another colour?) a bit less bitter - I mean Walter got his Peter killed in this timeline, not just stolen, but I guess he got slightly more closure? Elizabeth supported him? See?! Questions!
I also kind wish that I hadn't been spoiled for the return of David Robert Jones - because the way they did that with Peter mentioning how he'd killed him was quite nicely done.
I was hoping we'd get more Nina too - but I imagine that will be next week?
Those Peter and Elizabeth scenes were so good though. Orla Brady, you are damn awesome.
I have a favourite Lincoln and it is AltLincoln. Seeing them side by side brought it home, but I still like them both.
Peter telling Our!Lincoln that AltLivia was a good person was interesting too, because he does know her and is that a sign that he does forgive her for what she did back in the normal timeline?
As for the Observer. Olivias just can't catch a break can they? And did that just mean in this timeline or all timelines? Oh show. I love you, but so. many. questions.
Marissa at GMMR is right in her recap (which sums up a lot of my feelings/questions actually) this was the exchange of the episode:
Peter: “I was wrong about you — you’re not the man I thought you were.”
Walternate: “You are exactly the man I thought you would be.”
FEELINGS.
Still very interested to see where this goes and we only have to wait one week! Excellent.
Finished my first book of the year earlier in the week: The Epic F***ing Twitter Quest of @MayorEmanuel. The book of the Twitter feed! So happy I found out about this book via a Yuletide fic - I loved it! It was also my first experience with Book Depository and I will be using them again. Free shipping! That book only cost me $15 NZ. <3
That gusty northerly can stop anytime now. *glances up at rattling skylight*

Date: 2012-01-14 10:39 am (UTC)I think there was a line Broyles or Astrid had in there that was like, but nothing degrades since the bridge was built! So I think that was that line. But speaking of throwaway lines, "Why do you need to use the machine to get to the other side when you can go anytime you like?" "Wait, what?" "Actually instead of explaining that I'd like to have a pissing context with Agent Lee, you don't mind right?" TANTALISING. I forget, was this Olivia even part of the cortexiphan trial? Or is it implied that it never happened, because Elizabeth had committed suicide so much earlier than she did in blue verse?
Weirdly I actually like our!Lincoln better, but I also hate him for getting in between Olivia and Peter, which is a pretty bad place to be in. I feel like that slash fangirl who hates the female love interest, except I really do think he's adorable.
That Peter and Walternate exchange was brilliant, I agree.

Haha, yes. She was involved (because in one episode this season she was worried it had affected her emotionally) and they did happen even before Peter died in the blue 'verse (I think, I'm fuzzy on bits of this - even moreso now). But I guess it didn't activate. Peter has always helped her out too with the larger things, so maybe without him she never found out, and Walter stopping the experiments early contributed as well? Not sure.
Our!Lincoln is pretty adorable, I agree and I even kinda like him and Olivia together (as long as Peter gets back to original Olivia ... ) I just prefer Alt!Lincoln.

Date: 2012-01-14 07:25 pm (UTC)Oh duh, of course they did - there's that episode where they run away or whatever (my memory is so awful, I really need to do a rewatch). But in that case it's truly bizarre that Peter wouldn't elaborate on that line - and that Olivia wouldn't push him to do so.
