Welcome back, Fringe! <3
Apr. 18th, 2011 07:50 amI woke up waaay too early, so I'm going to write out my Fringe thoughts. I could of course get up and go to work earlier but, why do that?
Oh, Fringe. <3 You ridiculous, wonderful show.
I knew the cartoon thing was coming (thanks, Tumblr) so I wasn't quite as WTF as I might have liked to be, but it was cool. A little 'A Scanner Darkly' which is a movie I do enjoy. It perhaps went on for too long, but I get what the point of it was. Plus, it meant Peter could kill Alt!Brandon zombies by throwing one through a fan and then run and jump to catch a zeppelin. Seriously. This show.
Peter and Olivia killed me here. They were cute, but it wasn't quite as overdone as 'Os.' It had more of a purpose, but oh god the smiles. And how worried Peter was! And he could tell Olivias apart ... finally! Of course I know that this can only end badly. They're too happy and cute. *sigh* I think all I'm asking for is an endgame, Fringe. And no Alias-like shit.
Josh killed me in the scene where he thought he'd lost Olivia. God. I know I have a weakness for the dude, but he is genuinely fucking good.
Lots of Astrid in this ep. Loved that we got a couple of moments between her and Peter, and her with high!Broyles, and calling Walter 'Wally' - she was awesome.
And talking of high!Broyles - Lance Reddick was amazing.
There were not so great things: I don't know if they took advantage of being in Olivia's subconscious enough. It all seemed a bit too straight-forward, and I don't think we learned anything that new about her. A few more details about Jacksonville, which were cool, but I thought it was all a bit on the surface.
Also, I would really like some follow up on that shape-shifter conversation at the end of 'Os' - that seems like such a long time ago now.
As for the cliffhanger ... weelll. What?! This is going to get insane, isn't it?
So glad its back! Three eps to go! Eep.
Haven't got to Community yet, and I think Game of Thrones might come before it. Intrigued.
Also as an observer (to put it mildly) of the Joshua Jackson Twitter search two things become obvious; a) Somewhere in the world a Mighty Ducks movie or The Skulls is always on TV, b) when he happens to appear in the same photo (looking adorable with Diane) as one of Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev holding hands at Coachella, things get a little insane. o.O
I wish I'd taken more advantage of the Coachella live-stream. It's pretty awesome.
Random link: Shaun of the Dead in 60 Seconds in the style of Bryan Lee O'Malley - so well done.
Now, work I guess. Had a pretty low-key weekend, but a nice one. Went to Thorpe Park on Saturday to address the never having ridden a rollercoaster thing. Now I've ridden 4. :p Lots of fun, scary ridiculous fun, but ow minor whiplash hurts.
I have also booked most of my accommodation in the US. Yay. Achievement! (Sort of - still so much to do OMG).

Noooo, I hadn't considered that. I'm not ready for Fringe to go into hiatus mode, dammit!

MY MIND IS BLOWN.

That pretty much seemed to be Tumblr's reaction, yes. :p On a variety of levels. That hand holding was apparently a BIg Deal in TVD fandom.
I love those crazy celebrity connections, but I imagine you can chase this one back to WB shows of the late 1990's. Oh, Young Americans, you were ridiculous. I kept forgetting that it was technically a DC spinoff.
