My heart goes out and my thoughts are with those in Japan or affected by the earthquake/tsunami/possible nuclear problem (jesus) ... for fuck's sake world. This is getting a little insane.

So disclaimer, I was spoiled for this ep effectively. Between the promo shots, Tumblr and then seeing the bell, I knew what was coming, so the end didn't have quite the OMGWTF quality it had for others and I think it coloured my perception of the ep a bit. I liked it (especially the start and the last 5 minutes), but on the whole it did leave me feeling a little eh.

The cold open was amazing. Walter and Hurley getting high! am a little surprised at the amount of drug use they get away with in a network show, but maybe I'm playing up US networks' conservative bent.

Time seriously passed here. Two - three weeks at least, because Peter and Olivia seem very comfortable around one another. I didn't find their cute too overpowering, though perhaps a little clunkily written in places (Olivia's full disclosure lines in the car especially and did that 'you're not so bad yourself' line make sense, because watching back I can only vaguely see how). Their obliviousness to Astrid struggling a little with Walter was fairly realistic too. They were very loved up. I was a little surprised by the hand holding but clearly both have adopted a 'fuck it, let's just be happy' approach, which hey, good on them. Look how smiley they both were, and with all that shit going down, can't blame them for wanting to just get happiness where they can. Josh and Anna's facial expressions in the car were so cute though, especially Anna's 'eep' face and Josh's 'really' face. I love them. <3 Anyway, they were cute and adorable. It wasn't perfect, but hey, I'll take it.

As for the plot, Alan Ruck was great and we again are in the world of scientists and father and sons. Did like the twist with the laws of physics at the end though and bringing it back to our universe having its own set of problems.

Also, Jumping!Peter. That was fairly badass. Stunt and special effects budget well used throughout the whole ep.

And also Smart!Peter. I don't ask for a hell of a lot, just a proof that there is a genius level brain in there sometimes. The black shirt was a bonus.

Walter and Nina's scenes were great too. Nice balance of 'oh Walter' and awesome John Noble and inadvertent humour. Best line of the night: "I don't imagine you're preparing for a science fair."

One thing that did annoy me. Shapeshifter reveal. I was thinking we'd get a good conversation about Peter's motivations and wellll ... sort of, but we were robbed of Olivia's reaction and probably quite a few WTF follow up questions, which sucked. She just looked like she was taking it all in, but I can't imagine it was going to go too well for Peter. I am so glad he finally told her though, those lies were getting a bit much. I do get why he lied to her originally (I don't like it necessarily but I get it) and to tell her earlier when they weren't in a good place would have just ruined their relationship further ... but now, well there's a whole 'nother problem. I do hate to think they're sweeping it under the carpet though.

As for that problem, like I said I was spoiled, so it wasn't a big WTF moment, but oh Peter. Oh Olivia. Also, he and Olivia are sort of the poster-children for FML. "Hi my name's Peter Bishop, I'm destined to use a doomsday machine, I was stolen from an alternate universe, my mother committed suicide, and oh, my girlfriend is currently being possessed by William Bell. Ha. FML." Did love the call-back to 'Momentum Deferred' though. Loved it a whole lot.

Preview: Hi there Lincoln! I also see lots of confused and angry Peter looks in the future of the "What the fuck did you do, Walter?" variety (though I guess William is to blame as much). I mean the comic potential is great, but uh Olivia is okay in there ... right? I can't imagine they'd work a case if William didn't insist she was okay ....

Also, my call: how easily is William Bell going to leave Olivia? Willingly? I'm not so sure. Eeep. Not as fast as Peter will want him to. :p

I also watched my first House ep for quite some time.

I admit I watched it because i'd heard about the fantasy sequences (which were great really - zombie!Chase, sit com Dads and ZOMG Hugh Laurie singing in a top hat with eyeliner), but I ended up enjoying it as a whole.

I was never really invested in House/Cuddy - I don't dislike them, but my House pairing of choice will always be House/Wilson - but I was surprised how engaged I was by their storyline. I really felt for House at the end. I understand Cuddy's point but ... poor bastard none the less.

Also enjoyed House turning up at Foreman's house playing video games. Just because.

Not sure if I'm going to keep watching or not, but it did sort of pique my interest in the show again.

Random:

* Delighted to see that Troy won Fandom March Madness and Veronica got so close. :)

* I also saw the Smurfs trailer. Not linking because uh, yeah, it's that bad. NPH, I question your movie choices sometimes, I really do.

* I did however see the Super-8 trailer and that looks pretty sweet.

* As a follow up to the @MayorEmanuel Twitter feed thing. Rahm actually met the guy behind it (via a radio station so you know PR) and donated $5000 to a charity of his choice. Aww.

Now I get up to go to IKEA. Never been before. Wish me luck. It's on my 'things do to before leaving London' list. We don't have them in NZ. :P
