1. F1 is back on my TV! Apparently, the Jenson vs Michael question in my head was answered fairly quickly in qualifying yesterday ('You bastard, Michael, don't you out qualify Jenson!) I seem to be a definite Jenson girl this season, with a sideline in Sebastian Vettel adoration.
2.
I must admit I was watching this and thinking to myself 'Hmm, not seeing what fandom was so divided a - ... oh, that.' That as awfully convenient way of not dealing with Kate, wasn't it? ;) Part of me has no issue with it, as I never really liked Kate (or what we saw of her), but now we're going to get Vendetta!Neal and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.
That scene in front of the plane though, wow that was slashiness right there, and well played.
I was also really happy to see Diana back. She rocked.
3. I went to see Alice in Wonderland last night at a cute cinema out in Wimbledon.
I'd read reviews which were like, 'eh, it's pretty but drags a little and didn't really need the 3D' and while I agree on the 3D sentiment, and it was gorgeous, I though the pacing was fine, and I really enjoyed it. I have also read that it did get a bit 'formulaic battle sequence' at the end, which is actually fair. I kept being reminded in small ways of Lord of the Rings and The Golden Compass.
I was fearing a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-like Johnny Depp performance (which was still good, just not amazing) but I really liked his Mad Hatter and his relationship with Alice. Did they make his part bigger because it was Johnny freakin' Depp, yeah, but it worked.
In fact, I really liked the new spin they put on the story. Mia Wasikowska was great and I loved her Alice. I must admit I didn't know that the vorpal sword was a Lewis Carol thing, I only know it from Fables. ;) And I'm always behind girls with swords and in armour.
Stephen Fry was perfect as the Cheshire Cat. Perfect.
I also really enjoyed Crispin Glover's performance, and what we saw of Matt Lucas as Tweedledee and Tweedledum was great.
So, yeah, not Tim Burton's finest hour (hi Edward Scissorhands) but I enjoyed it, good performances and visually it was awesome.
I also saw the new Toy Story trailer and that looks all sort of awesome. I am so there.
(Oh iTunes, you know it's F1 season. This song was used on an awesome F1 montage when ITV stopped broadcasting F1 coverage).
