owlbeerToday was supposed to be a day of Doing Things. Get up early, have breakfast, go for a walk, tidy room, ponder OE options etc. Up until nearly 2pm however it was the Day of Watching Season One of The Wire. (OMG, so awesome).
I watched a couple of eps from the video store, but then got distracted by other things. Happily then my flatmate bought home Seasons 1-5 home. Meant to be clearly. ;)
Damn, this show is awesome. References from the last ep to the first ep of the season with McNulty and the boats, and just really tying things together so well.
Lots of beautifully flawed characters. Really like ... actually pretty much all of them, with the exception of Rawles and the other really senior police guys.
Also, really like Stringer Bell, even though he is clearly a complete asshole. Am vaguely slashing him with Avon. Is it just me that sees this? I like the idea anyway.
Omar is crazy. But an awesome sort of crazy.
Wallace!! I was so hoping he was going to avoid that. Fuck.
Also totally called D turning back, his Mum is scary, but also awesome.
Can't wait for Season 2, think I might start it now. I shouldn't, but I can see it happening.
(Please no spoilers for future seasons).
However, I did eventually get out of the house. Got a coffee, read my book for a bit and then rocked on up to STA travel thinking I would at least talk to someone about my options. Ended up having an awesome travel agent who was super helpful and on some level I must have made up my mind, as I basically booked for mid July. It can still be moved, but I basically committed myself to going. Must now do Visa things.
I am both scared and excited. Shit.
Back to work tomorrow, but thankfully only for two days.
