Every year I tell myself I don't really care, but I always read the list anyway:

I swear the HFPA sometimes nominate people on the basis of who they would like to see at the ceremony in a pretty dress/suit.

Case A: Tom Cruise nominated for Tropic Thunder? Really?! I'll give you Robert Downey Jr, but Tom Cruise was painfully unfunny. Painfully. Yes, I am not a Cruise fan, but still.

Ralph Fiennes for The Duchess? I mean, yes, he was good, but, that category is so weird. And Heath Ledger should win by a mile.

Hee. James Franco got nominated for Pineapple Express. I find this hilarious for some reason.

Danny Boyle, Sam Mendes, David Fincher and Steven Daldry all in one director category. Aww. Ron Howard, yes, okay, you're not all bad either.

I also really don't like how they lump all the supporting actor and actress into one category for TV. But saying that Neil Patrick Harris, Dennis Leary and Jeremy Piven all in one category is pretty cool.

Only a Animated Nom for Wall-E. :(
