All's Well That Ends Well?
May. 28th, 2005 01:51 amBirthday dinner was tonight. Restaurant was a total success. *dances* (and I did actually dance literally tonight, more than once. The restuarant is a total interactive experience). However, now I am thinking about the one stupid thing I said to a friend of mine. I mean, it wasn't even important. At all. She's probably forgotten about it. Yet, I still agonize. I hate my brain.
The rest of my day sucked, but dinner was great. So happy it turned out well and everyone had a good time. :D

On Tuesday I also finally got to see,
So, all in all, I liked it. It was so much better than TPM and AotC. So much better. I actually felt for the characters. I was shocked.
The opening sequence was pretty cool, even if it was George Lucas going 'Look at my pretty, pretty CGI.' The rescue scenes in general were pretty well done. Anakin and Obi-Wan's dialogue didn't feel too forced, and well, you have to love R2. The droids were also quite hilarious.
Yoda. Love him. I don't know what it is, but he kicks all sorts of ass.
R2. Love him. Is it just me who imagines half those beeps as swear words? He manages to have his own personality and comes across as the other character who might actually know what's going on.
Loved Mace Windu charging down the corridor. It had a whole 'I'm Samuel L Jackson and I'm going to Fuck You Up' feel to it.
Does George Lucas have some sort of obsession about cutting people's hands off? Yes, it's a likely injury when you're battling with a lightsaber, but seriously, it happens all the damn time.
Ian McDairmid actually did a really good job as Palpatine, though once he got all creepified it wasn't so good, but he had all that scary make-up to contend with. He's actually done very well with all these prequels, and I think he's the only one that can say that. Yes, I know, doing the best with what they're given. I know. It's a fair point.
One thing that really got me was the montage that showed all the other members of the Jedi Council (and the Younglings *gulps*) being killed. For some reason, it was probably the most emotionally resonant moment in the movie. For me anyway. Well, either that or Obi-Wan and Anakin's burning body.
Every scene Anakin and Padme shared completely blew. They have no chemistry and had some awful dialogue. I thought it might improve from what we saw in AotC, but the world isn't that kind. It was easily the worst part of the movie for me, and that's why the movie was never really good, because I totally didn't buy Anakin's motivation. Well, one of them. I never really felt that Anakin and Padme felt anything for each other at all.
Ewan was still a little wooden in places, but damn he sold me in the direct aftermath of his battle with Anakin. 'You were the Chosen One.' He just nailed it, and for the rest of the movie too. This was easily his best movie.
I've had it pointed out to me that saying Hayden Christensen can't act based on just Star Wars movies is a little unfair and that does make sense because I know Natalie Portman can act, but in these movies she was awful. Hayden did better here but there were still those fun cringing moments. Also, he's kinda pretty. I swore I'd never say that. *sighs*
Temuera Morrison as all the clones just bugged me. His accent bugged me too, but that's a given. Kiwi accents among all the American ones just comes across as odd to me. It might be a Kiwi thing.
I loved the way the ending tied into the original trilogy. From putting the mask and suit on Anakin, to the babies being given to their respective new families. I thought they handled it really well. That final scene with the suns. It really worked.
Hilarious Link:
mistful's fantastic RotS re-cap. *dead*
It's been pimped everywhere but it's too great not to link to again.

Dear TV3,
I realise 'Histories' was the next ep in the order, I really do, but see two weeks ago when the last ep of House was on ('DNR') you mistakenly played the 'Detox' promo and that made me hope. It's not that 'Histories' is a bad ep, at all. It's just that, I've already seen it and well, Detox. Please don't taunt me like this again. It's dangerous for my constitution.
I now await next week.
With wavering love,
- Tali

It could be really interesting if France vote 'No' in the EU Constiution Referendum. Hmm. Part of me almost want them to just to see what would happen, but only part of me.
