Life on Mars Season 1 ... must find Season 2.

So, um ... wow?

I know the season was only eight episodes long, but that was awesome. Every ep had some bearing on the greater story and let you know more about Sam and were just so good.

Admittedly, I did watch them a little out of order due the me not reading the discs properly, so I saw the finale before I saw the episodes 5 and 6. While I watching the last ep I was thinking 'this is pretty intense for a mid season ep' and there was a reason for that. It was an awesome ep though. I saw the twist coming, I mean you just knew it was never going to end well, but it was so well done when it did come.

Playing soccer with his Dad just floored me. Oh, Sam, you and your Daddy issues.

Sam is a fascinating character. He's not completely likeable, but in the circumstances I suppose you can't really blame him for acting the way he does sometimes. On the whole though. Oh, Sam.

Gene is love, in his own special way. You think he's one thing, and then they went and arrested that crime lord. I loved that scene. It's like Sam is the naive cop Gene once was, and he's getting to do some things he wish he had through Sam. Or something. Also, I really want to meet his wife, because I'm really curious what she's like.

I keep thinking Annie should bug me, but she really doesn't. She's cute, but not in an annoying way.

Chris is fun.

Ray is a bastard, but the he's supposed to be.

Also, on the whole the show didn't follow the big cop show cliches. It surprised me more than once with the routes taken in the episodes.

I loved the little Sam rants because of what he knows in the future. Like the one in the football episode and how he links it back to the hooliganism he knows is coming. They surprised me, in a good way.

Sam and Gene run a pub together! Comedy gold! (And my mind went wandering to a John and Rodney bar AU ... moving on).

Fannishly, I might be interested in some well done fic of the gen, Gene/Sam or Sam/Annie variety. I don't know if the show definitely needs it, but I would be interested to see what fandom does with it.



So, um, Season 2?
