Finally, about six months since I watched my last episode, I've finished BSG Season 3. (Thanks again [livejournal.com profile] yous_suxes!)

Disclaimer: I was totally spoiled for this. Knew Kara 'died,' knew who the Final Four were.

So, it didn't start off that great. I'd seen 'Taking a Break From All Your Worries' before but I decided to re-watch it because I couldn't remember what had happened, and while I think that was a factor, just, eh. The whole quadrangle managed to annoy me even more and the Gaius storyline was good, but not enough to make up for the rest.

And then there was 'The Woman King' which I wouldn't say was as completely awful as I'd heard, but it wasn't good either. Just, eh. I just can't get really involved in Helo storylines, I've tried, but I still think it's residual from S1 when his Caprica storyline bored me to tears. I wish that Bruce Davidson got a better ep to be in.

From then on ... we were good. I liked 'A Day in the Life' and loved 'Dirty Hands' (Chief! <3). 'Malestrom' brought back my Kara love, which was slipping away slightly, and also made me remember why I do like Kara/Lee when they're not being irritating. 'A Son Also Rises' was a little iffy, but mostly solid and all in all, I did really like 'Crossroads I' and 'Crossroads II' though I think the second was definitely the stronger.

Random thoughts:

Oh, Lee. He was annoying me for a lot of this season, and it was getting to the point where I couldn't really remember why I liked him so much, but by the end, I had remembered. Mostly. That 'Captain Apollo' bit with Roslin on the stand was, just ... ouch. And then for your father to say you have no integrity. Oh, Lee, you had a good day there. I like how it ended though with Lee's speech on the stand and Adama voting for Baltar's acquittal ... all twist-y, just like this show should be.

Oh, Gaius. All alone. I liked how that ended with him just wandering around, Lampkin and Lee leaving him. I imagine him and Six will be reunited at some point though.

Speaking of Lampkin, he definitely grew on me. If they can fit him in next season I would not be opposed.

Roslin/Adama = made of win. Although, saying that Mum and Dad are left it a bit of a precarious place there. I'm sure they'll work it out.

Final Four. The Chief one really hurts, but the rest ... eh. I liked Anders in parts, but I've never been a big fan of Tigh or Tori. it was nicely done how they all resumed their place in the fleet. However, them all saying different lines of 'All Along the Watchtower' was unintentionally hilarious, and kind of ruined the whole emotional resonance of the moment. I liked it fine when it was used at the end, but them saying the lines ... it just made me laugh.

Shallow: If we can find more reasons why Lee has to wear a crisp white shirt and Baltar has to wear all black ... that would be fine with me.

I don't really do random theories about how this is going to play out next season, I just know I'll be along for the ride. I am intrigued about Roslin though ... and the fact that she's having the same hallucinations as Cylons. Hmmm.

Also, King Lear was awesome. The stage design, the costumes, Ian McKellen ... so glad I went.

Now, I really should be asleep. I have to work tomorrow (yes, on a Saturday), admittedly not till 10, but for some reason I seem to be treating this like a normal weekend when I'd get up at noon. *headdesk* There will be coffee. However, I do get to work in sneakers and jeans. What? I've got to look at small things.

Yes, sleep now.
