I don't know why I keep doing these in groups and not individually but there you go.

The Rise of the Cybermen and Age of Steel

I liked the fact that it was on a paralell Earth and that meant that bringing back Jacqui and Mickey didn't seem quite so contrived and I did like that they brought back Rose's Dad but as a whole the two eps weren't nearly as good as the ones that preceeded it. I'm not quite sure why. They just felt sort of ... flat. Not bad exactly. Just not that great either. I must admit that I thought (and maybe was secretly hoping) that Mickey would die, but I did quite like what they did with him in the end. While I felt for him occasionally in these eps, I can't say I really miss him.

The Idiot's Lantern

I only caught the last half of this ep because I had a work thing and ... eh. It was okay but I remained pretty underwhelmed by the whole thing really.

The Impossible Planet

Okay, I admit I didn't watch this ep as closely as I could have because I was talking to my flatmate through a lot of it. Who I in no way have a crush on, at all, what? *cough* but I quite liked what I saw. It was definitely a step up on the last three eps.

Also, wow fandom must have gotten really pissed off at that visor of the Doctor's spacesuit. :p

The Satan Pit

I watched this ep a lot more closely (though admittedly with the same flatmate) and it was easily my favourite of the five. I especially loved the end with the Doctor down the pit and Rose on the spaceship and I didn't see the rescue scenario coming.

'Tell Rose ... oh, she knows.' GAH!

And yeah, the 'if I beleive in one thing, I believe in her' was a little bit cloying, but David Tenant sold it pretty well.

Ten really is a little crazy. I mean, Nine was crazy as well, but there's something about Ten which is even a little more unhinged. It's interesting. One of these days when I feel like reading fic I might hunt some down that won't horribly spoil the end of the season for me.

However, two two-parters in a pretty short season? Is one too many in my opinion.

David Tennant, of course, rocks all before him.

Next week: Jacqui again! I don't have a problem with the character, but can they use her just a little more sparingly? All the universe, all of time, and they keep coming back to Rose's time?! It annoys me.

I'm down in Christchurch this weekend to catch up with friends over from Australia and down from Auckland, among others. I can't wait to get down there actually, it should be pretty awesome.
