I went to see Narnia with my Dad today.

I liked it, I really did, but looking back a few hours later, it didn't really leave the biggest impression on me.

First off, it was too long. I don't say that too often about movies, but this was. There were a few things, including a lot of the 'fleeing to Aslan' sequence which I thought could have gone. Some of the scenes were well done but I ddin't know if they all really needed to be there. The ice wall being one in particular. I didn't really get too bored but sitting in the theatre I did feel that it was pretty dragged out.

But apart from the length, like I said, I did enjoy it.

The first scene in the snow, when Lucy meets Mr Tumnus just felt so quiet and so wintery. I mean, I really felt it. It was very well done.

Peter's always been my favourite. I'm not exactly sure why, but he always has been and I thought William Moseley did a very good job. All the actors were pretty good actually. Lucy was fantastic and Susan and Edmund were well handled. They looked exactly like you'd imagine really.

I thought Tilda Swinton was certainly good, but nothing really special like others have said.

In terms of the childrens' interactions, I thought they were communicated pretty well. There were a couple of touches (that I can't quite remember right now *headdesk*) that I really liked and I liked that it started when they were at home with their mother and ended with them all 'grown up' as Kings and Queens of Narnia.

Aslan's 'execution' scene was very well done. In fact, most of the stuff with Aslan I really liked. Moreso that in the book. I think I read that the movie was 'as Christian as you wanted it to be' and I think that's dead right. If you wanted to see the allusions they were there, or if like me, you perfered not to, they weren't. Liam Neeson was an excellent choice for the voice and the CGI was fantastic. He looked quite cuddly actually. I'm not sure if that's what was supposed to be communicated but he looked so real and it was almost like you could reach out and bury yourself in his fur. I loved how Aslan disappeared at the end while walking along the beach too, but then I'm a sucker for 'people/animals walking alone on beach' scenes. I'm not really sure why.

The Beavers were so cool, defintely one of the high points of the movie for me, and Rupert Everett did the fox's voice! <3

James McAvoy's Mr Tumnus was also well done. I especially liked the scene in his home after he first meets Lucy. That was so cool.

Most of the people in out theatre missed it, but the little scene they had after the initial credits between Lucy and the Professor was so cute.

So, I liked it, I'm glad I went, but there were a couple of issues and I don't know if it was quite as good as I thought it might be after seeing the first ten minutes.

I have to admit, the high point of the whole experience? The PotC 2 teaser trailer! So, so good. (So, so pretty). I cannot wait for that movie next year. Jack/Will/Elizabeth are totally my PotC OTP/3.

I also watched my 'Wimbledon' DVD tonight (it was only $10 and it's not that bad a movie) and oh, how I love Paul Bettany. So much. I'm also still secretly hoping that someone will write Peter/Dieter fic because it's there! And it's a very nice thought. Yes, indeed.

'Colonial Day' was very good. Mmm, politics. I love how they've handled the political elemets. It's so fascinating. Also, the dancing scene rocked, for everyone. I'm a sucker for dancing scenes.

I became a little bit of a Kara/Lee 'shipper in the course of these eps. Dancing! Punching! It was wonderful. They had me flailing a little.

The Baltar/Kara was interesting though and then the awkward betwen everyone. Oh, the awkward. (Perhaps I've been reading too many of Couch Baron's VMars recaps ... )

Boomer <3 I know she's a Cylon but I've just loved the way Grace Park has played her. She's totally doomed but I've liked her ever since the mini-series. I also have a soft-spot for Boomer/Tyrol.

I think KLG may have been ruined a little by the fact that I'd already seen the last ep (completely out of context, but that's by the by) but I still enjoyed it a lot. The way they weaved everything together was very cool and there are just so many elements that are very interesting not the least of which is, that was a lot of blood Adama spilled on that nice white table. Jamie Bamber rocked those reaction shots.

Also, if I can just have a small shallow moment, oh is this cast pretty. Grace Park, Jamie Bamber, Katee Sackhoff, James Callis, Tricia Helfer, Kandyse McClure. All gorgeous. Right, shallow moment over.

So, yeah. In conclusion, I've just loved this series and I cannot wait until S2 gets here. In fact, I think I might have a connection who can get it to me before that. *cough*

Mmm, new fandom. Any fic recs are appreciated. :)

House and Veronica Mars are both up for Writers' Guild Awards. In the same category, but shush, I'm just happy they both got nominated for something, especially VMars.
