I rented Dead Poets Society yesterday. The combined powers of Robert Sean Leonard and Josh Charles compelled me...

Gorgeous movie. It really made me think afterwards and I love movies like that but it was also extremely well acted and well shot. Gah, loved it.

All those boys were just wonderful. Their interactions, everything. I loved them all so much. Neil was a personal favourite, but Charlie, Meeks and Knox were also wonderful. RSL and Josh Charles kicked oh so much ass. So much love. Todd left me a little cold, though the scene in the show * gulps * and with the poetry, but still, just didn’t feel the love as much. But then I’ve never claimed to be a big fan of Ethan Hawke. I just can’t get past ‘Great Expectations.’ He was okay in the Alias ep though.

Keating leaving gave me some very serious ‘Lupin leaving at the end of PoA’ vibes. In fact, for a while there I was casting members of the group of boys as members of the Marauders. Boys in boarding schools; must do something to the brain. Also, I may have slashed them together in my head, just a little. *couhgs* Neil/Charlie or Neil/Todd, I just couldn't decide.

Also, every time Robert Sean Leonard grinned, I couldn't help but grin right back. That smile is a dangerous weapon.

I was surprised at how little I cried, actually. There were tears but not as many as I thought. I think it’s because a) I knew the suicide was coming and b) when it did come, it was very sudden. ‘We’re sending you to military school’ and then it happened that night. It was a little too sudden for me but I can understand why it was done. The thing that really got me about it though was that Neil never got to see the other boys one last time, his father whisked him away and then, gone. * sniff *

All in all, it was a very enjoyable movie.

I’m so happy the DVD is on sale cheap here at the moment.

And yes, I did try and find Much Ado About Nothing (RSL, Branagh, Shakespeare, why haven’t I seen this before now?) as well, but the video store’s copy was out and I wasn’t walking to the other one down the road to see if theirs was still in. Obsession only takes you so far. However, I am completely free tomorrow.

I also see there has been lots of positive reviews for Revenge of The Sith. You know, I might feel some hope but I watched the first hour of AotC last night and man, is that movie painful. It reminded me what Mr Lucas is capable of.

* admits she still has a smidgen of hope regardless*
