Valentine's Day?
Feb. 15th, 2005 12:50 amIf you want to see some wonderful photography, the BBC News website has a picture gallery up with some winners from the World Press Photo of the Year Awards here. Some of them made my jaw drop.
Also, how much did I love Prime for playing the BAFTAs last night? A lot. However, still not enough to make up for the fact that they voluntarily employed Paul Holmes. *shudders* Stephen Fry is so cool, although when he went into huge amounts of praise about Mischa Barton and Keanu Reeves (WTF? the BAFTAs have the craziest presenters) I hoepd he was being ironic, which knowing Stephen Fry, he very possibly was. I know, paid to be a presenter, yada yada, but still some of that was so over the top it had to just a little ironic. He also has a love of the metaphor which is almost obsessive. I liked that the awards were nicely varied and didn't just favour one film but I suppose that's just the sort of year it's been.
As for the Grammys? *yawns* I usually pay no attention to them, which is odd beause I pay a lot of attention to other awards shows, but the Grammys have always done nothing for me. However, Howard Shore won two this year, which is of course, wonderful and Zach Braff won one for the Graden State soundtrack. I also must admit that the nominees in the rock categories weren't all bad (Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Velvet Revolver, Green Day) although I still think 'Vertigo' is one of U2's worst songs in quite some time, but that might be just me.
New layout. I actually quite like how the graphc on the side has turned out but I want to have another go and see if I can fit in more of favourite pics in. It needs some development.
I saw Finding Neverland Saturday night with a friend from work (avoiding my friend's cocktail party which would have meant dressing up and other tedious things). Such a gorgeous movie. Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet kicked all sorts of ass, as they always do. I definitely recommend it, if that counts for anything.
Also started up again with the S4 X-Files DVDs I borrowed off my friend ages ago today. Nice. Very nice.
As for Valentine's Day. I haven't noticed it, really. I chalk that up as a good thing.
