I only seem to be posting every time I see a new Firefly episode. I mean to post about other things but then don't end up doing so. RL at the moment is really just work and far too much thinking and not enough doing, but what else is new? I just have to stop overthinking everything. It's ridiculous.
Anyway, fandom love.
Firefly
It wasn't as good as the most recent episodes I've seen but it was still damn good.
'Oh look they have boy whores, how thoughtful.' Kaylee, I just adore you to pieces, but you knew that.
' .. he would have to relax for thirty seconds and I can't see that happening, ever.' (paraphrased) So true.
Having Melinda Clarke in the episode just made my brain shout, 'Julie Cooper!'. She did okay with the role actually because by about half way through the ep my brain had stopped yelling that quite so loud.
Inara is very pretty when she wakes up. Mmmm. And I must admit I did feel for her when she broke down crying over Mal. Poor thing. There's no hate there, just apathy.
You could unfortunately tell that Nandi was doomed. But Mal thought he'd failed her? Oh, damn, Mal. How can you not love him, I mean really?

That was a pretty good twist. She did fuck up but then you could see why. Poor Zoe. I had to agree with what Dad said though, that he didn't think it was realistic and that the trial wouldn't have happened at all. I know they gave reasoning, and it was good and thought out but something still niggled a little. Then again, it's TV and I watched two seasons of Alias so my suspension of disbelief in regards to spy programmes should be fairly healthy.
All in all a very solid ep and the scene between Danny and Zoe on the couch nearly killed me. Harry also kicked ass in this, going in to bat for Zoe. He rocks, as always.
Also, the line where Danny says ‘maybe when all this doesn’t matter, I can visit you some time.’ At first I was like, ‘aw, someone should write that.’ And then, I remembered what happens. Damn. *sniffs * That's really going to hurt. I keep getting the image of Tom being at the funeral in my head but I just don't think I'm going to be that lucky.
This show really does teach you that if you enter MI-5 as an undercover operative then your life will be completely screwed wtih.
Also, over the weekend I saw Closer. Which I really enjoyed.
Closer
After it finished I said to my friend that this should have got the Oscar nomination that The Aviator did. I still mostly think that now.
Everything I might have muttered about Clive Owen not being able to act, I take back. Especially in the scene with Dan in his office. Just the tone he hit, it was just the right amount of British snark. Very nice.
Natalie Portman also did a great job and it was a really nice twist with Alice/Jane at the end.
Another friend who saw it said it was very hard to watch. I didn't find that but that's perhaps because I can't really personally relate to the subject matter. I haven't been in any relationship, let alone a serious one and so I think I could watch it with some level of detachment. I'm not quite sure if that's it but I think it might be. It didn't really make me cry but it did make me think.
I'm interested to now how accurate it was to the play it was based on.
And if I may be shallow for a minute, Jude and Natalie, so very very pretty. Guh.
And returning to Firefly for a minute. Apparently they're releasing a three issue comic mini-series that is supposed to act as a prequel to Serenity. Written of course, by Joss Whedon. Excellent. <3
Need to re-do icons, and website layout, and make a serious dent on the fic recs. Also, apply for jobs! Idiot self.
