Oh LJ/DW I have abandoned you a little, I know. And yes, I have been spending a lot of time with Tumblr, but it's not like that, really. He just has so many pretty pictures ...
It’s been and will probably continue to be a weird week and weekend. There’s AO3 testing and social engagements, and a friend who is very sick in Wellington and just, yeah, a lot going on. And next week is looking no better.
Had to make time to watch this though:
I don't think I should glance at reviews before watching, because I glanced at The AV Club's (B-) review yesterday and I do think that coloured my perceptions of the ep a little.
I liked it, some bits of it quite a lot, but it was easily my least favourite of this season.
The Ashmores' plotline did little for me. I did like learning more about Amber and I see what they were trying to do with the twins thing, but it just seemed slightly more heavy-handed than the previous eps, or didn't quite work as well, and much as I was pleasantly surprised how much Peter was in this ep, I didn't think he helped that feeling at times.
I did like Head!Peter at lot at the end though. Keep whispering just like that, Josh. <3 And of course Olivia will be saving herself, I wouldn't have it any other way. Damn she's awesome.
The Chicago thing threw me a little though. I still remain a little confused, thought I've just gone back and in 'Brown Betty' it is mentioned that Rachel had to go to Chicago. So, not sure what is happening there.
We need to able to keep Lincoln and AltCharlie though. They are so cool. I especially liked Lincoln this ep with the silly faces and even the way he pulled off the slightly juvenile sounds after Charlie told him to stop gloating,. Hilarious.
It perhaps just paled a little in comparison to the previous 4 episodes of awesome? ;)
Superficial land: No bangs! And Anna Torv really works the lighter shade of red.
I am in denial about ratings. I know the number, but I'm outright avoiding the comments at TVByTheNumbers, because it's the same every week. Fringe defenders (some people who do the show no favours) vs everyone else, and tbh, it's really too early to tell. So, I'm over worrying about it for now. If the worst does happen they just need to able tie up the plot-lines properly either at the end of this season, of if they're given 13 next year. I will be pissed as hell if we're landed with a cliffhanger.
Also randomly, I’ve had this quote in my head on and off for a few days (I think in relation to a certain male character on my current favourite show *waves up the post*) and I couldn't place it, and just now got around to looking it up on Wikiquote:
“I guess love is blind, and deaf, and very very dumb …”
Yes, yes, it’s from Without a Trace, spoken by Martin no less. Woah. Fangirl flashback. I almost feel I should apologise to Peter for associating a Martin quote with him. ;)
The rest of the quote is better to be honest:
Martin: I guess love is blind. And deaf. And very, very dumb.
Jack: Spoken like a true romantic.
Martin: What? You going to tell me you still buy into it?
Jack: Sure, marriage, kids, the whole nine yards. [Martin looks skeptical] I didn't say I was good at it. I just said I was a fan.
Oh, Jack.
I need an Olivia icon. And coffee, fuck I need a coffee. Ow, withdrawal headache.
I really want to catch up on Community too. The pictures I've seen of S2 look so good.
