owlbeerWent to see Them Crooked Vultures tonight at Brixton Academy and they were all sorts of awesome. I've been wanting to see them for ages!
Dave Grohl on drums! Dave Grohl on drums! Not enough hearts in the world! He was fabulous and just smacked the hell out of those drums. Damn, he rocked. I'm usually all about the guitarists (and they all were great, and John Paul Jones played a freaking violin <3), but tonight was all about Dave for me. Shocker.
The sound was a little fuzzy (though better than when I saw LCD Soundsystem at the same venue) and my ears are still ringing and it's actually just annoying now, but apart from that it was a great night. I should really get the rest of their album. *is a bad fan*
I was expecting new True Blood and there was none. Sad panda. I guess because it's 4th of July weekend. But I've had these thoughts about last week's WTF ep on this DW post page for so long I should actually just post them.
Okay, seriously? WTF was with the last three or so minutes of this ep. I was mostly liking it and then the Franklin glamouring Tara scene and the Lorena/BIll scene of epic WTF happened and now I'm not so sure. I realise the show is over the top, it's its "style", but twisting her head around?! Really? And even without that, the whole way that was acted was disturbingly non-consensual (even though I realise it was consensual), and this after Franklin glamouring Tara, and maybe I was adding in that he was going to sleep with her, but, yeah. It disturbed me.
Apart from that, I'm still confused by a few plot threads and it's not really helping my enjoyment of the show, There's a difference between having a mystery and surprises and having a plot that's vaguely incomprehensible. It's still a little disjointed too - though this week's was better that last week's in that regard.
Eric, Pam (" ...theoretical chainsaw"), Lafayette ("That must be new") were the highlight, as always. Pam and Yveta especially. That was so awesomely done.
Also, Sookie and Eric were sort of cute. They had banter! "Maybe the next time you shoot me ..." and Eric patted the wreath which i thought was a cute little touch by Alexander. Sookie also seems like she sort of trusts him, or at least that he'll come rescue her. Hmm. It's interesting and I really don't hate it.
However, Sookie was an epic sort of stupid in the were bar though, hopefully Alcide is a good influence on her. He seems slightly more sensible, which considering this is Sookie, may be damning Alcide with faint praise.
Bill ... *sigh* I really want to know what's going on with the political machinations but Bill is just boring me. I sort of felt for him in the flashback, but Lorena is extremely annoying and that ruins any positive thoughts I have towards the scene. Why did she have to come back?
Loved the scene with Franklin and Jessica, but then my feelings about Franklin has now been skewed by his last scene, so, yeah.
Also, I am still doing the music meme, it just took me ages to come up with a song for this, and well, I'm lazy.
